Many people start the college planning process in the 11th or 12th grade and that puts them behind the 8-ball.  The truth of the matter is, the process should be started much earlier than that.

As early as birth, you can begin contributing small amounts to a 529 Plan. In elementary school, you should have some basic conversations about it.

Once your child starts middle or junior high school, more clear and strategic conversations need to be had. If you haven’t done any of these things, don’t stress.  There’s nothing that you can do to go back in time to change that.  Just start where you are.
