“Words cannot express how grateful my Mother and I are to have received assistance with the college process with Mrs. Renee. Her willingness to help me and my mother, despite her other tasks, has shown us the importance of giving back. Throughout this academic year, her help has allowed me to venture out of my procrastination and develop time management skills. I know that what she has taught me will allow me to strive for success and help others along the way”

Thank you so much for guiding me through my college selection process. Honesty, I really couldn’t have done it without you. You made a very stressful process (especially during covid-19) easy to follow and manageable. It was helpful to have the variety of options regarding my financial aid packages because I was able to see who was giving me the best deal and match it with the college that could give me the most opportunity. Getting the full tuition package from one of the colleges helped to put in perspective which financial decision was best for me while still getting the best education and they is why I chose Scranton. Thank you for taking the time to make sure I was up to date with every scholarship imaginable! I can’t wait to see you and thank you for pushing me to be successful!

College Planning Boot Camp Programs
“My daughter and I attended the College Planning Boot Camp. Nichole was very thorough at explaining the college application process and I got some valuable information from her. Her presentation is sure to ease my stress levels of this whole thing. I now feel better prepared as to what to do and expect. She also made her presentation lighthearted!”
-Jeanne Evans, 12th grade parent
“The boot camp was worth every penny. Nichole is very knowledgeable of the college planning process and shares the information in a relaxed and entertaining way. I look forward to the next session.”
-Toyca Williams, 12th grade parent and former co-President of Parent Faculty Club at East Norriton Middle School
The information was AMAZING and my daughter said she learned a lot! I am totally new to sending a teen to college from scratch. She’s going to the 11th grade and while I know we have to choose a college and complete the FAFSA, I didn’t have details such as what to ask the counselor for, the timeline on when things should be done and understanding scholarships. That info was perfect! For my daughter, the tips about speaking with her counselor, setting herself apart from other candidates, scholarship options, and the full gamut of preparing for this journey was also inspiring to her. She specifically said , “I like how real she was. And she was funny.” So, your delivery was very effective for her. It wasn’t the typical mother pointing the finger speech. It was perfectly on her level.”
-Aliyah Johnson Roberts, 11th grade parent
“The information you gave was sooo informative and helpful. Nahje and I enjoyed every bit of the boot camp. You gave her the motivation to start the process for her college search. She was so overwhelmed before but you made it simple and didn’t sell us any gimmicks.”
-Lardina Coles, 12th grade parent

Amazon Book Reviews
As a College Advisor and counselor this book is everything I want it to be and more. I read the entire thing cover to cover in one sitting and I have to say as a practictioner and as a parent this book has valuable tips about how to navigate the systems within schools for parents. I want every one of my middle and high school families to read this book so they are better prepared for life after high school. I can’t tell you how many times I have conversations with people and I wish I had a manual to give them that they can refer to when I am not immediately available. This is that manual. The author did a great job capturing everything us counselors and College Advisors want our students and their parents to know about advancing through high school and thereafter.. kudos to you!

Great Resource for Parents of Students in School!
I think this book is a great resource for parents of any school-aged kids. I love how it speaks to the fact that preparing your kids for success is a process; Senior year is a little late. I also appreciate the check list at the back as well as the layman’s explanation of the various programs that schools offer such aa IEP’s, GIEP’s, and 504’s. Thank you Nicole for helping us parents out!

The tips in this book are SPOT ON!! You’ll take it everywhere…I do!
If you are a parent and need some easy to follow but totally workable solutions to being a successful advocate for your child, this is the book you need. Written in easy to follow logic and step by step instructions for getting things done in a progressively positive and influential way, Nicole Renee is spot on with the methods she’s put together in this great book! As a parent who has used many of these same tips and steps over years and years of raising my 3 sons who attended an academically rigorous school, I wish she had written this book years ago because it would have saved me the pain of having to learn things the hard way. When you have a road map to knowing what it is you need to know right from the beginning, it makes the journey that much more enjoyable! “Being Proactive is the Key!” delves into collective ways to make molding your child into an excellent student with minimum resistance AND shows the importance of building positive partnerships with your child’s teachers, counselors and school administrators so that the support your child receives is ongoing and appreciated. I’ve read it a few times now, and find myself quoting rid bits from it to my parent network. I’m on the parent leadership team of a few organizations and will be recommending this book as a must read!
